These are my discoveries. Some are recent, some I've thought for a long time. Some are poignant, some are simple. Take em or leave em, but here are some thoughts of mine about everything from daily habits to finances:
- Make the bed every morning
- Tip 20%. It's good karma. Even if the service wasn't hot (there's usually a reason). If you can't afford to tip, you shouldn't be eating out.
- Comfortable shoes are amazing
- A lot of the time a guideline is better than a set schedule
- A certain level of frivolity is essential to happiness
- 2 Things I Never Regret:
2. Having too many pictures
- Moderation, Not Deprivation
- It's important to make sure you don't only think of finances just in terms of money. Remember the following:
-Happiness Costs: It's great to save money, but keep this in mind - In 10 years you won't remember that extra $200 bucks you had, but you will remember that romantic over-night trip you took or the stellar concert tickets you snagged
-Opportunity Debt: Even if something is paid for or cheap, always keep in mind what kinds of other opportunities are at stake
-Mental health days and Indulging yourself can be exactly what you need
- A lot of the time Money can buy some happiness. Never underestimate the staying power of an impeccably cute new cocktail dress or something that you've really wanted
- You can control what you do, you can't control what you like to do
- Angry? -Drop The Coal
- Embrace Kitsch
- Honor your commitments - don't commit to something & bail. Either don't agree to do it, or if you do - follow through (If you can't get out of it, get in to it!)
- Yes and No are the most simple, most empowering words you can use. Learn to harness that power
- Pay attention to all those articles that say chocolate & wine are good for you
- And yeah, wear sunscreen.
