Happiness Hodge-Podge

For today’s Free Day I am doing a Happiness Hodge-Podge – a mix of quotes, photos and tips that will hopefully infuse your day with some food for happiness thought!

“Life begets life. Energy creates energy. It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich.”
~Sarah Bernhardt

“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements to life, when all we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.”
~ Charles Kingsley

“An optimist is the human personification of Spring.”
~ Susan J. Bissonette

“Originality does not consist in saying what no one has ever said before, but in saying exactly what you think yourself.”
~ James Stephens

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”
~ Plato

“It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.”
~ Henry David Thoreau

Here are some Pictures to make you smile

(From a very cool thing called The Ballerina Project)

Important Tips to Provide IMMEDIATE and consistent happiness:

1. ANY TIME you think a nice thought about someone – TELL THEM. It will make you both feel great!

2. Let in natural light and fresh air – natural light in your home is proven to be an immediate mood-lifter. So open the blinds and crack the windows open!

3. Follow the 1-minute rule: I find this especially helpful right when I get home or before bed. If there's a task to do (hanging up your coat, putting your shoes away, filling up the Brita Pitcher) that takes less than a minute - Do it! All those little minutes add up to help create inner and outer calm!

Hope these all help to brighten your day at least a little!

  1. I followed your one minute rule Tarreyn. Such a fantastic idea. At night time, there is always something that I can do that takes no time at all, better to just get it done. Loving your blog. xo! I'm starting one this month as well. Good luck! -Stephanie A. Dunlap
